WEEKLY MOVIE REVIEWS

My DVD review for the MAC this week is a terrific Aussie Comedy/ Drama "The Merger". Released in 2018 the film is based on Damian Callinan's solo show of the same name.
(I have seen the stage show too and it was also fantastic!). The film explores the decline of a cash strapped Aussie Rules footy club and the recruitment of refugees to keep the club viable. Starring Damian Callinan, John Howard and Kate Mulvany. Damian and his partner Zillah came to the MAC for our first screening of the film and had a fun meet and greet- footy theme of course. And dont forget to book your Mother's Day package here at the Mac and pick up a take away cocktail and the Luna Bar.  Cheers
This weeks pick was one of my favourite films of 2019. Ive seen it three times! If you like Billy Elliot and 80s music this film is for you! A wrap up is below.
"Blinded By The Light" based on a true story.
"The feel good movie of the year"
"Pure Ingenuous joy"
Blinded by the light was developed from Gurinder Chadha and British journalist Sarfraz Manzoor's shared passion for Bruce Springsteen and based on Manzoor's celebrated rite of passage memoir "Greetings from Bury park", chronicles his experiences as a British Muslim growing up in the 1980's and the impact Bruce Springsteen's lyrics had upon him.
